Kerryn Wise is a dance artist, performer and researcher based in the UK, exploring the intersection of dance, film, physical theatre, and digital technologies. Kerryn is currently in the latter stages of a practice-based Phd exploring the use of virtual reality technologies within performance practices, funded by Midlands4Cities/AHRC. She is interested in interrogating the audience/spectator relationship to understand how virtual environments can affect audience perception. Kerryn’s current work explores live performance, VR and volumetric capture. Kerryn is a QuestLab Digital Dance Artist alumnus at Studio Wayne McGregor and is a NearNow, studio member at Broadway Media Centre’s studio for arts and technology.

Kerryn is one half of Displace Studio, a Mixed Reality Performance Studio with collaborator Creative Technologist Ben Neal. Producing bold, boundary-pushing work that dances between the darkness and the light, reality and fantasy, Displace create deep, interpersonal, immersive experiences that encourage audiences to step into, behind, and around the edges of illusion. Displace Studio’s latest work Facades has recently completed a 15 date international tour across 2022.

Kerryn has been devising and choreographing work for over 20 years and has regularly received Arts Council England funding. Kerryn has shown her work at a range of festivals, theatres and venues nationally and internationally including the National Review of Live Art, Sensitive Skin Festival, NEAT, NottDance, Performing Futures, Studio Wayne McGregor, Prague Quadrennial, FIVARS, QLD XR Festival, Aesthetica Film Festival, amongst others.

Kerryn teaches on the BA Performing Arts at DMU where she is module leader for 3 UG modules, 2 of which focus on integrating new technologies into performance practices. Kerryn also delivers on other UG/PG modules spanning Physical Theatre, Dance and Choreographic Practice, and Digital Arts. Kerryn also delivers dance and technology workshops in a range of settings as a freelance dance artist.
