Regarding his practice-based research His compositions, many of which are sample-based, some text-sound, include several for video, dance and theatre and have been performed around the globe. Many of these works involve surround sound or may be site specific and are hard to appreciate on commercial media. These works are often described as a theatre of sound within a choreography of space reflecting his extensive experience working with associated art forms. Humour features in many of his works which are intended to reach audiences beyond the often-encountered specialist ones whilst retaining a focus on the innovative.
