Rob Brannen is Professor of Arts Education and Head of Performing Arts at De Montfort University. Rob is a published playwright creating plays and performances through dialogue and workshops with and for community and education groups. His work has been performed in schools, universities, community spaces and theatre venues nationally and internationally.

Rob’s latest play Strange Tale was performed at the newly opened Shakespeare North Playhouse, Prescot, in November ‘22, and revived there for February ‘23. Seen by around 2,000 people, Strange Tale was only the second play on the main stage and the very first piece of new writing ever to be performed at the brand-new Playhouse. This project has allowed for the development of an innovative model for the playwright working in close collaboration with creative industries professionals, community leaders and local participants.
